Charging at home? Get it installed properly, by a licensed electrician.
Level 2 EV charger installation for homes and stratas, Surrey to Chilliwack. Free quote, upfront pricing, and a straight answer on whether your panel can take it.
The part most people
find out too late.
A charger is only as good as the circuit behind it. These are the things worth knowing before the unit arrives.
- Your panel may already have capacity, and a load calculation tells us rather than a guess
- If it does not, load management is often cheaper than a full panel upgrade
- The run from panel to parking spot drives most of the cost, not the charger
- A dedicated 240V circuit is required; sharing an existing circuit is not an option
- Permit and inspection are required in BC, and matter at resale and for insurance
- Strata and townhouse parkades need the building's distribution scoped first
What you are actually paying for.
Load calculation first
We size your existing service properly and tell you honestly whether it supports a charger as-is.
Dedicated 240V circuit
Correctly sized breaker and wire, run clean to the parking spot, surface or fished in wall.
Hardwired or plug-in
We install the unit you bought, or advise on one, and mount it where it actually reaches the car.
Permit and inspection
Electrical permit pulled and the Technical Safety BC inspection booked, with the paperwork handed over.
Single driveway or a whole parkade.
Single-family homes
Garage or driveway charging on a dedicated circuit, with the run kept tidy and the panel left labelled.
Townhomes and stratas
Parkade conduit runs and building distribution, scoped for a strata council or property manager with the capacity question answered up front.
Straight answers
If your panel handles it without an upgrade, we will tell you that. If it genuinely does not, we will show you the math.
The questions we get on the phone.
What does it cost to install an EV charger in BC?
It depends on the distance from your panel to the parking spot, whether the wall or ceiling run is exposed or fished, and whether your panel has capacity. We quote before we start and the number you approve is the number you pay.
Do I need a panel upgrade to add an EV charger?
Not always. Plenty of homes run a Level 2 charger on 100 amp service with a proper load calculation, or with a load management device that shares capacity. We do the calculation first and tell you which option your panel actually supports, instead of selling you an upgrade you do not need.
How long does an EV charger install take?
Most residential installs are a single day once the charger is on site. If the panel needs work as well, we schedule the two together so you have power back the same day.
Hardwired or plug-in?
Both work. A hardwired charger is tidier and is required for some higher-output units; a plug-in on a 14-50 receptacle is easier to swap or take with you. We will tell you which one suits your unit and your parking spot.
Can you install chargers in a strata or townhouse parkade?
Yes, and it is a different job from a single-family driveway: it involves the building's distribution, conduit runs through the parkade and coordination with the strata. We do that work and can scope it for a council or property manager.
Do I need a permit?
Yes. An EV charger circuit requires an electrical permit and inspection in BC. We pull the permit and book the Technical Safety BC inspection, so the paperwork is complete for your insurer and for resale.
